Having exceeded expectations by coming so close to lifting the regional title, Dollah has promised to adopt an open door policy, with all members of the squad available for selection. There is one notable exception -- Shukor Adan, 35, who announced his retirement following the heart-breaking finale at Bukit Jalil.

The inclusion of 30-year old Afif Amiruddin -- the Kelantan-born central defender who was the only uncapped player to sneak into the 22-man squad -- suggests that age is not an issue with Dollah.Safiq Rahim's resurgence is timely. At 27, the central midfielder who made his international debut at 19 is at his peak and central to Dollah's plans if he stays clear of injuries.

Those who had gone through the mill with Ong Kim Swee in the Harimau Muda set-up are grappling with various issues -- personal problems, long-term injuries or a dip in form.

It will be interesting to see if the likes of Azrif Nasrulhaq Badrul Hisham, Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor, Wan Zaharulnizam Wan Zakaria, Hazwan Bakri, A. Thamil Arasu, Nazmi Faiz Mansor, Syahrul Azwari Ibrahim, Rozaimi Abdul Rahman, Junior Eldstal, Brendan Gan, K. Reuben, and Nasir Basharuddin -- all good enough to be part of Kim Swee's plans over the past two years -- can create an impression on Dollah.
The M-League, which kicks off in February, will surely provide an inkling.
